The ACW World Championship (alt: APEX World Championship) is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion Apex Caliber Wrestling (ACW). As top-tier championship in ACW, it is presented as the promotion's most prestigious title, with many matches for the title having headlined pay-per-view events. The current champion is Beowulf, who is in his first reign.
Etymology[]
The term "undisputed" in the title was referred in ACW as the top championship belt. Instead of it being referred as a "world championship," ACW has constantly reminded critics and fans alike the ACW Undisputed Championship would be the belt to hold and feel like they are unstoppable and the undoubted champion, no matter who wears it.
History[]
On the April 12, 2013 episode of ACW, co-owners Jesse Alvarez and Joshua Garza unveiled the ACW Undisputed Championship. The inaugural champion was crowned at Southern Hell on July 28, 2013 in a singles match. The main event at Southern Hell was determined by one Fatal 4-Way Match and one Triple Threat Match, with the winners wrestling each other in a singles match. Isaac Clarke won the Fatal 4-Way by defeating Sasuke Uchiha, Rogen Townsend and Mason Stone, while Naruto Uzumaki won the Triple Threat bout by defeating Ichigo Kurosaki and Vergil. At Southern Hell, Naruto defeated Clarke to become the inaugural champion.
As of August 25, 2013, the ACW Undisputed Championship was officially renamed the ACW World Championship. The championship belts were redesigned on August 26, 2013.
Championship Belt Design[]
When the belt became established on April 12, 2013, it had taken heavy inspiration from the original Undisputed WWF/WWE Undisputed Championship design, replacing "WWE" with ACW's acronym and "World Wrestling Entertainment" with "Awesome Championship Wrestling".
Title History[]
As of August 30, 2013, there have been two reigns. Naruto Uzumaki was the inaugural champion.
Beowulf is the current champion in his first reign. He defeated Naruto Uzumaki in a singles match at Summer Wars on August 25, 2013, in Los Angeles, California.
