The Agents was a professional wrestling stable currently performing in WWE, under the Smackdown Brand. The group consisted of real-life cousins Agent A (Steven Matthews), and Agent B (Jeff Matthews), and their childhood friend Agent C (James Smith).
The group debuted on October 9, 2016, at the No Mercy pay-per-view, a WWE PPV that returned after eight years. The Agents was a dominant force in six-man tag team matches with an undefeated streak lasting from October 2016 to January 2017, during which they scored a victory at Survivor Series 2016, and defeated teams containing the likes of AJ Styles, The Miz, The Spirit Squad, Baron Corbin, The New Wyatt Family, The Vaudevillains, Breezango, Curt Hawkins, The Ascension, etc.
In December 2016, all three members of The Agents won a professional wrestling championship at the TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view, with Agent A winning the Intercontinental Championship while Agent B and Agent C captured the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Agent B and Agent C were Tag Team Champions until January 10 and Agent A was Intercontinental Champion until that same day as well.
The Agents are also widely praised by crittics and thus considered to as "Descendants of The Shield", due to their Shield based-tactis and post-match assaults, whom they considered to as "ambushes".
The Agents has from the beginning of their existence voiced their intentions to fight "crimes and injustices" and to serve their "Grand Asset". They were also known for their Agent-based gimmicks, wearing black suits and sunglasses (except for Agent C who didn't wear any). They are also known to bring walkie-talkie with Agent B being known for his catchphrase "All Clear", as well as their "secret base" in which they do their promos, which they called as "threat message". Besides that, they were a group which possessed excellent teamwork and a willingness to sacrifice themselves as an individual for the good of the team and for their teammates.
- Agent A - Agent A is considered as the leader of the group, and is the only member with unique combination of great strength, quickness, and technique abilities.
- Agent B - Agent B is considered as the right hand man of Agent A, and is considered to as the high-flyer.
- Agent C - Agent C is considered as the "weakest link" of the group, and is also considered as the technician.
Mercenaries for Dolph ZigglerEdit
The group debuted on October 9, 2016 at the No Mercy pay-per-view, when the debuting Agent A, Agent B, and Agent C interfered in the Intercontinental title match, a Title vs. Career Match between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz, when they attacked The Spirit Squad, send Kenny crashing through the announce table with the "Operation 205", and "arrested" Maryse, banishing the three of them outside. This would cause The Miz losing to Ziggler as well as losing the Intercontinental title. Next week on October 11 episode of Smackdown LIVE, the group would help Ziggler beat the Spirit Squad in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match when they distracted the two, hit an Operation 205 to Miz through the announce table, and once again arrested Maryse. Later that night, the Agents would beat Miz and The Spirit Squad in a six-man tag team match in their first match in WWE ever, with the help of Ziggler, who is one of the color commentator for the match. On October 18 episode of Smackdown LIVE, they distracted Miz and the Spirit Squad in their match against Ziggler and Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno, costing them the match. Later in a backstage segment, when Ziggler argued with Maryse for always interfering in his matches, Miz and the Squad attacked him, prompting the Agents to made the save and fended off Miz and his cohorts. On the October 25 episode of Smackdown LIVE, Ziggler, Agent A, and Agent B teams up to defeat Miz and the Squad, with Agent C preventing Maryse from interfering when he hostaged her with a taser gun (which in reality just a toy). After the match however, Baron Corbin and The Ascension beaten up the Agents, with Miz and the Squad joins the assault and beaten up Ziggler. Next week on the November 1 episode of Smackdown LIVE, the Agents would beat Corbin and the Ascension in a no disqualification match following Ziggler's interference. After the match, Ziggler thanked the Agents and said that he no longer need their help, prompting the group to just simply thank him, and when Ziggler leave them in the ring, The New Wyatt Family attacked the group.
On the November 8 episode of Smackdown LIVE, after defeating Curt Hawkins and Breezango, the Agents called out the Wyatts, only to appear in the titantron, challenging them to a match at Survivor Series; the Agents accepted the challenge. On the 900th episode of Smackdown LIVE, the Agents are the guests at Miz TV, and Agent A wants to challenge him for the Intercontinental title in which Miz accepts (despite Sami Zayn from Raw already his challenger), but was attacked by the Agents after that. Backstage, Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno accepted Agent B and Agent C's challenge for a title match. The Wyatts then came, which led to a brawl between the six men with the Agents gaining the upper hand. At Survivor Series, the Agents accomplished multiple big victories: the Agents beating the Wyatts and chased them after the match, Agent B and Agent C defeated Heath Slater and Rhyno to become Smackdown LIVE team captains for the tag teams, and Agent A defeating the Miz despite interference from Maryse. Also, Agent B and Agent C are the sole survivors and won the match for Smackdown LIVE, as well as Agent A retaining the title against Sami Zayn. On the November 22 episode of Smackdown LIVE, the Agents addressed their big victories, only to get confronted by Miz, followed by Slater and Rhyno, Curt Hawkins, and the Wyatts. This led to an eight-man tag team match, with the Agents' team gaining the victory. On the November 29 episode of Smackdown LIVE, the Agents successfully retained their respective titles against Miz and the Spirit Squad in two separate matches. The next week, The Usos challenged the Agents for the tag titles.
